Cement Clinker Production Line – Vietnam
Project Overview
Cement clinker line in Vietnam for a large cement plant: feedstone crushing, raw grinding with ball mill or vertical roller mill, and rotary kiln calcination.
Customer & Feedstock
The customer is a large cement plant in Vietnam. The line converts raw feedstone (limestone plus correctives) into cement clinker — the calcined heart of cement production. Vietnam's cement market runs on capacity and fuel cost, so the plant's equipment selection was driven by two questions: how much clinker per hour, and how much fuel per tonne.
Challenges & Requirements
- Grinding route choice. Raw grinding was specified against the feedstone's work index: the plant can run either a ball mill or a vertical roller mill, selected to the material and the plant's existing utility profile.
- Clinker quality stability. Clinker mineralogy is set in the kiln: temperature profile, residence time and raw meal homogeneity all had to be held across the campaign.
- Fuel economy. Preheating the raw meal with kiln exhaust and recovering clinker heat in the cooler is standard on modern clinker lines and was the design baseline here.
- Regional operating context. Southeast Asian feedstone quality varies by quarry; the crushing circuit had to absorb that variation without starving the grinder.
Solution & Equipment
Crushing, raw grinding and kiln calcination as one continuous line:
Jaw crusher (SC series, SC80–SC304S) — primary crush of feedstone.
Hammer crusher (project-sized) — secondary crush where the feedstone work index requires it.
Ball mill (Ø3.0×13 m – Ø3.6×13 m class) — raw meal grinding, route A.
Vertical roller mill (RMS / CRMS / CMS series) — raw meal grinding, route B, selected per material.
Rotary kiln (Ø4.0×60 m – Ø6.2×87 m class) — clinker calcination.
Belt conveyor (DT / TC / ST series) — transfer.
Process notes. Offering both grinding routes is deliberate: the ball mill suits lower-throughput or existing-plant integration; the vertical roller mill suits high-throughput, low-specific-energy grinding. The kiln is the common core — the same family as DMTC's lime and pelletizing kilns.
Design Results
- Design clinker output within the 2,500–12,000 t/d kiln-line platform
- Grinding route matched to the feedstone's work index
- Kiln-based calcination sized for continuous campaign operation
Why DMTC
- A kiln platform across three end markets — cement, lime and pelletizing lines share the same core engineering, which shows up as consistent operating behaviour.
- Grinding selection by material data, not catalogue preference — the mill is chosen from the feedstone's work index.
- Regional deployment experience across Asia and the Middle East.
